Chapter 14: Another World

From the rip in space stepped forth a Shadow Gundam, however this one was gigantic. Inside of it was Doom Lord Valoth. Being the size of a Gundam already, his personal Shadow Gundam needed to be bigger.

“They completed development for this Gundam just in time. With the heroes gone, I think this is the perfect time to cause some havoc.” he said to himself

Valoth opened communications with the fleet. “What is our progress in destroying EbilCorp?”

A lowly soldier replied, “We seem to be making slight progress every hour. EbilCorp is weakening very slowly. Forecasts put the battle ending within a week.”

“Transmit your co-ordinates to me. I am personally coming to finish the battle.” Receiving the co-ordinates he used the claw on his left arm to rip open another portal and to travel directly to the battlefield.

“Now is the time to test the power of this Shadow Gundam.” he said looking

at a group of EbilCorp fighter ships. Spreading the wings of Mephisto he fired corruption darts at the ships. Not a single one was dodged and within five seconds the ships had become Shadowscythe.

“The rate of corruption for Mephisto is spectacular.” he said admiring the Gundam.

Meanwhile the dragonoid and The Paladin had moved into the other world. They found a smaller planet next to an extremely oversized one. The dragonoid analyzed both. “That large planet...is the home of the dragons.”

The ship moved in closer to the planet and they soon realized it was completely metallic. What they were looking at was a shield to keep out the Shadowscythe.

The dragonoid roared and they watched as a large section of the shield moved forwards revealing an entrance. They all passed through and the shield closed again.

Before them was a gigantic network of domed cities with large clear tubes that act as passages between them. As they entered a large draconic capital ship approached. The ship looked similar to the Dragonguard Gundams, being adorned with golden trim in the shape of dragons.

“Identify yourself.” said a voice from the ship.

“I am Dragonoid-7 of the Army and this is The Paladin, a human ship I have brought with me.”

“A dragonoid? I never thought I would see one with my own eyes. Follow me to the Royal Sector.”

The dragonoid and the ship proceeded forward to the central dome and within it they saw a large palace. The dragonoid waited outside while the Paladin followed the ship in. The humans disembarked and met with the dragon.

Unlike the old legends, these dragons stood on two feet and not on all four. “You are humans?” the dragon asked looking at them.

“Yes.” Starbuck replied. “And you are a dragon I see.”

“That is what I am. Now what business do you have here?”

“We need your help in fighting the Shadowscythe. They have nearly conquered our world.”

“The Shadowscythe? I have only read of them, those wars were before my time. I think it would be best if you spoke to the Emperor. Wait here a moment.” he said turning around and flying away.

Mika looked around saw paradise. They were standing in a lush garden outside the palace and everything was perfect. It was beautiful and peaceful, something she had never before seen. GEARS was a nice place, but this was lavish.

Everyone felt at peace here. Ryukai went and laid down in the grass and went to sleep. After all they had been through he was tired and needed a moment to rest. Omicron examined the fountain. The fountain was watering the garden and none of the water was being recycled. He wondered how it worked and where the dragons got their water from.

Odessa sat down on a stone bench and talked to Lisa and Tek. Starbuck just stood waiting and looking around. They were all curious about this place. It seemed like an entirely new world to them.

From the palace the dragon came flying back. “The Emperor will see you now. Proceed through the doors to the second floor and through the doors.”

Everyone obeyed as the dragon returned to his ship and left the Royal Sector. The doors did not open automatically and had to be pushed open. Once inside they found a large foyer with red carpeting with golden dragon trim. As they ascended the stairs they saw dragons dressed as servants walking buy and performing their duties.

“This is amazing...” Odessa said in awe. The group opened the door on the second floor and found themselves in a long hallway that led to a throne at the opposite end. They looked at the Dragon Emperor who was dressed in large royal clothing. The Emperor was a golden color and wore a large red crown and a red outfit.

“Humans. Welcome to draconic society.” he said kindly.

“Thank you.” Odessa said politely. “You are aware of why we have come?”

“Yes, but let us talk about that later. You all look terribly tired. I insist you spend the night here and tomorrow we can discuss the matters of war.”

Starbuck stepped forward. “Dragon Emperor, do you know the threat the Shadowscythe pose to our world?” he asked carefully. The dragon they met before said it was before his time and since Starbuck knew nothing of the Shadowscythe.

The dragon chuckled. “Yes, I remember the wars well. I began my rule five thousand years into the war and I am still here today. But one thing I do know is, the Shadowscythe will not win in a day. If they have not overcome your galaxy yet then they will not do it in a day. You must rest for the coming battle.”

Mika was almost afraid to speak, but she did. “The reason that is, would be your doing. I pilot one of the Dragonguard Gundams...the Phoenix.”

“Oh, you do? I am glad to see our technology has helped you. In fact we had a feeling it would. Tell me...what do you know of them?”

Ryukai spoke this time. “Only that they can Purify and each have a Special Mode they can enter.”

The Emperor smiled. “That is all? Oh you are missing out on their true potential. You have not experienced the Temporal System yet?”

The pilots looked confused so he went on. “If you three are truly meant to be the pilots you will be able to activate. Come, let me show you.” he said. Then he yelled “Dyoren!”

One of the servants flew up towards him. “Yes, Your Highness?”

“Please take these four to the guest chambers and make sure they have whatever they need.” The Emperor pointed to Odessa, Starbuck, Lisa, and Tek.

The servant nodded and escorted them out. “Now then, let us go to the Dragonguard now.”

The Emperor walked with the three pilots outside of the palace and into the Paladin. On the way he smiled at seeing the dragonoid who was in sleep mode outside of the royal sector. And inside The Paladin, he smiled at the Gundams.

“If you truly are the chosen pilots then follow my instructions and you will be able to activate the Temporal System.”

The three pilots entered the Dragonguard Gundams and opened up a special Code Input program. The Emperor instructed them on the code and they each pressed enter. He watched each of the Dragonguard begin to glow. The intensity of the glow increased as energy gained. The glow became so bright, the Emperor had to avert his eyes. Then the light vanished along with the Gundams and he smiled returning to the palace.

Inside the others followed Dyoren down to the first floor and into the Left Wing of the palace. They walked to the end of the hallway where they turned right and down some stairs. There they found a large circular chamber with ten doors.

“This is the guest chamber. You may choose any room you like. They each chose a door and inside found an empty room. As they pondered the emptiness of the room they saw strands of light emerge from a vent on the floor and the lights began to form a room perfect for each guest.

Starbuck watched in amazement as the lights solidifed into a bed, a dresser, a carpet, and a mirror. A small door also appeared and through it he found a bathroom. Dyoren spoke to all of them. “If you are requested by the Emperor, I will personally find you and bring you to him. Feel free to explore the palace as no doors are off limits.”

Odessa found clothes in her dresser and changed into sleeping garments. She then sat down on her bed and stared at the wall thinking of home. The light strands returned and formed a window. Through it she could see Soluna City. Odessa smiled as she fell asleep.

Tek found her room looked just like the one in her shop. It was cluttered with mecha parts and she found peace and went to sleep. Lisa’s room had formed into a small wooden room that reminded her of when she lived in one of the few rural lands left. Starbuck’s room was simple and ordinary, just the way he liked it. Within a few minutes everyone was asleep.

The pilots of the Dragonguard awoke and found themselves outside a temple on a cliff overlooking space. They were on a piece of land that was surrounded by a dome. “Where are we?” Omicron asked confused. “It looks like we are in a different part of the city..”

“No, we are somewhere else.” Ryukai said. “Look up, the metal shield is gone.”

Mika began to worry. “The Temporal System...are we in the future or the past?”

The pilots left their Gundams and headed inside the temple. There they found what seemed to be an old dragon worshipping something.

Without opening his eyes he smiled. “So you have finally come.” Opening his eyes he stood up. “I am Dragon Emperor Drakkyron.”

Mika looked at him. “You aren’t the same emperor who sent us here...tell me what year is it?”

“You would not understand our calendar. But according to your time it is the year 1942 B.C.”

The pilots were shocked. “Why...why are we here?” Ryukai asked scared. They were 5,000 years in the past.

“You are here to learn about The Light.”
